Welcome to Talent...
Located five minutes north of Ashland, the town of Talent became known for the fruit producing orchards along Bear and Wagner Creeks due to a favorable climate and an extensive irrigation system begun by the early settlers in the 1850’s, which developed into today’s Talent Irrigation District (TID). Jacob Wagner, the first recorded settler in the area in 1852, named his settlement “Wagner” but in 1889 the town was named after Aaron P. Talent. Incorporated as a town in 1910, Talent is presently experiencing a period of residential, commercial and cultural growth. Growing rapidly, yet still respectful of and in touch with nature, Talent has access to the Bear Creek Greenway, a paved trail that follows the Bear Creek streambed which runs from Ashland, through Talent, Phoenix, Medford and on to Central Point, along which walking, jogging, biking or skating can be done while enjoying the surrounding natural flora and fauna.
