Welcome to Shady Cove...
With the Rogue River at its center, and located on the Rogue-Umpqua National Scenic By-Way, Shady Cove is known as "The Jewel of the Upper Rogue." This area is famous for its record-breaking salmon and steelhead fishing, river rafting, hiking trails, bike routes, nearby waterfalls and wildlife along with nearby snowmobile parks offering winter recreation. Add to this a world class 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II and Shady Cove becomes a destination for all seasons.
Shady Cove is the nearest full service community off I-5 on the way to Oregon's only national park, Crater Lake National Park, which is less than an hour's drive north. With a population of less than 3000 residents, the community is served by all the basic city services of police and fire departments, elementary and middle schools, public library, community center, and a regional park with boat ramp. Medical services include full time medical clinics, dental, optical and chiropractic services along with physical and message therapy, a fitness center and a pharmacy. Many small businesses provide opportunities for shopping, dining and lodging. With affordable housing and available subdivisions, the town welcomes new growth.
The community celebrates several events throughout the year. Daffodil Daze and the well loved Annual Wildflower Show happen in the spring. In June, the Rogue Sportsmen & Guides Association holds its annual Spring Chinook Salmon Enhancement Derby. In July, the Shady Cove Boosters sponsor the very popular annual Salmon Barbecue. And in August it's time for the huge Spam Parade and BBQ. Yes, that's right, Spam.as in the famous luncheon-meat.
